If you try to look for salmon in a Japanese grocery store, most likely you’ll find a very salted salmon. My Canadian colleague used to complain to me why it’s so hard to find non seasonsed salmon in Japan.
I grew up eating these salted salmon for breakfast. It’s great with rice. Not low carb though.
In Vancouver, it’s the opposite – there’s lots of huge salmon fillets on sale, but no salted ones. You’d have to go to Fujiya, a Japanese grocery store, to find salted salmon.
