Today I got the much coveted low carb Questbar in the mail. Since reading Lynn Terry’s awesome review I have been anxious to try them as well. The sample pack arrived within a week, containing
2 of each flavours: Vanilla Almond Crunch, Peanut Butter Supreme, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Mixed Berry Bliss, Chocolate Brownie and Apple Pie.
I tried the Peanut Butter and Jelly first
and it was really tasty! It was different from what I imagined. I thought it would be like a cereal bar but the texture was more like a chewy caramel. It’s not sweet (each bar contains about 4-6g of net carbs) so if you have a sweet tooth like me you don’t have to worry about overeating. This is a good thing for someone who has a sugar addiction like me…I used to eat a whole Nanaimo block (i.e. Nanaimo bars in blocks, before they were cut into individual pieces).
I can’t wait to try the other flavours and also try microwaving it as per Questbar’s recommendation:
This will be a perfect snack to take to my hiking trips!
PS…however – this morning when I ate the chocolate one my BG went up from 5.9mol -> 10.8mol (106mg -> (194mg). OMG I am so shocked, I’ve never seen it this high for the last year!!!!!! I’m so scared now 🙁 After researching on the web, it looks like Quest is working on making this more diabetic friendly so kudos to them! I think I will stick with the 99% Cocoa Bar which didn’t raise my BG level that much before.
